Section Three: Alcohol and Sex on College Campuses.
In our classroom presentations, this information normally is included in Section Two, but in that environment we are able to preface it with some trigger warnings and can also respond in real time to the distress it may cause some audience members. Since we don’t have that luxury in a video format, we have sequestered this material in a third section that you must actively request in order to view it. In this video we will address the role alcohol plays in sexual activity and sexual assault on college campuses. The material, while heartbreaking and disturbing, is crucial information if students want to reduce or eliminate the scourge of sexual assault they will encounter in college. While the majority of the information presented here deals with the costs and consequences of intoxicated sex and alcohol-related sexual assault, we also offer some proactive programs students can access and employ that have the potential to reduce the likelihood that this will happen in their lives. Please note: We don’t separate this material because we think it is less important—in fact, we consider it critical. We separate it so that a highly motivated middle-schooler looking to get a leg up on college prep won’t end up scarred for life after viewing a video they aren’t prepared for developmentally, emotionally or intellectually.
